  • Candidates are required to install fibrous plaster board ceiling with concealed ceiling system within a 2350×2350 test bay, complete with a bulkhead/downlight recess, downlight openings, access panel, and partially plastered at joints;
  • Candidates are allowed to help each other during transfer of levels and installation of fibrous plaster boards during the 1st 3 hours of the project;
  • Candidates should be able to complete the installation in safe working manner, and complying to correct orientation & method of construction, levels, dimensions, tolerances, application of screws/rivets, neat plastering to joints, neatly cut downlight openings, etc.;
  • Project to be completed within 4 hrs.
  • candidate will fail the entire test if any hanger, wall angle, main or cross tee, boards drop during inspection;

Scope of Training/Assessment

Foreman
  • 6 hrs (2 evenings 5.30-8.30pm)
  • Introduction of Fibrous Plaster Ceiling Board;
  • Metal and Acoustical Ceilings;
  • Good practices in suspended ceiling installation;
  • General Safety;
  • 1 day (8.30am-5.30pm)
  • Trainees will be briefed on BCA Assessment Criteria for Test Project;
  • Trainers will provide detailed explanation on how to interpret the test drawing and how to relate the drawing to the actual test bays, the correct installation methods for the hangers, wall angle, riveting, main tee/secondary tee, transfer of level in accordance to test project specifications, forming of openings for diffuser, recessed light box, downlights, etc.;
  • Trainees will practice and hands on the sample practical projects in accordance to what have been taught by the trainers, with close guidance from trainers in the course of their practices;
  • At the end of training, trainees should be able to understand and acquire the necessary skills to install the test project in safe working manner, and in accordance to test requirements, within the test duration of 4 hrs.
  • Candidates will be advised to take up more practical trainings prior to the test to ensure that they are able to acquire the required skills and speed to complete the test project.
