- Trainees will be briefed on BCA Assessment Criteria for Test Project;
- Trainers will provide detailed explanation on how to interpret the test drawing and how to relate the drawing to the actual test bays, the correct sequence and method to install the road kerbs, interlocking blocks, and interlocking turf paving slabs in accordance to test drawings and specifications;
- Test candidates are expected to ensure cleanliness of workplace during test, observing safety at all times and proper use of tools;
- Trainees will be taught how to transfer reference datum line to the surveyor pegs and how to use these levels to prepare the sand bedding levels and to control the installation of the road kerbs, interlocking blocks, and interlocking turf paving slabs;
- Trainees will set out the profile of the test project in accordance to the test drawings, and prepare the sand bedding to the required levels in order to achieve the finished levels for the road kerbs, interlocking blocks, and interlocking turf paving slabs;
- The installed road kerbs are to be in good alignment and straightness, not deviating ± 4mm in 1 m, and the joints of the kerbs are to maintain uniformity with a width of 10-20mm and finished off neatly with lime mortar;
- The overall dimensions of the installed interlocking blocks/turf paving blocks shall not exceed ± 20mm;
- The installed interlocking blocks/turf paving blocks shall be laid with the correct level & gradient as indicated in the project Candidate will FAIL the entire test if the interlocking blocks/turf paving blocks are laid without gradient or in wrong direction of falls;
- The edge blocks abutting the road kerbs are to be neatly cut and laid with good alignment and with ± 5mm accuracy;
- The surface evenness of the installed interlocking blocks/turf paving blocks shall be within ± 5mm in 2 m, and the width of the joints shall be visually uniform and between 3-5mm;
- The surrounding sand bedding around the kerbs shall be finished off neatly in accordance to the dimensions indicated in the project drawing;
- At the end of the training, trainees should be able to install the road kerbs, interlocking blocks, and interlocking turf paving slabs in accordance to test drawings and test specifications within the test duration of 4 hrs;
- Candidates will be advised to take up more practical trainings prior to the test if they are unable to meet the training expectations after the 1-day training.
